How to Install Texture Packs for Minecraft on iPhone and iPad

To install a texture pack on iPhone or iPad, pick one in JoyTellect Addon Hub, tap Import so the pack file opens in Minecraft, then activate it under Global Resources (for every world) or in a single world's resource pack settings. No computer or file manager is needed. In Bedrock's menus the imported file appears as a resource pack — "texture pack" is simply the everyday name for a resource pack that changes how blocks and items look.

Prerequisites

• An iPhone or iPad on a recent iOS or iPadOS release — this guide was tested on iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
• Minecraft: Bedrock Edition installed from the App Store and opened at least once.
• JoyTellect Addon Hub installed — listed on the App Store as "Addons, Skins & Textures Packs". Free to download with optional in-app purchases.
• A little free storage — texture packs range from a few megabytes to much larger high-resolution packs.

Install a texture pack in five steps

1. Open JoyTellect Addon Hub Launch the app and switch to the Texture Packs section. Browse by category or search for a style you have in mind — simplified, smooth, high-contrast or themed packs.
2. Preview the pack and check its notes Open a listing and study the preview images: they show how blocks, items and the interface will change. Check the compatibility notes for the Bedrock versions the pack targets and its resolution — higher-resolution packs look sharper but demand more from your device.
3. Import the pack into Minecraft Tap the import button. The .mcpack file opens directly in Minecraft, which unpacks it and adds it to your resource pack library. You can import several packs in a row before switching to the game.
4. Activate it in Global Resources or world settings In Minecraft, open Settings → Global Resources to apply the pack to every world, or edit one world and activate it under Resource Packs there. If several packs are active, the one higher in the list wins wherever they overlap.
5. Check how blocks look in game Load a world and walk around: compare familiar blocks, open your inventory and check a few items. If something looks unchanged, confirm the pack is in the active list — not just in the library.

Troubleshooting

The pack imported, but textures look unchanged

Importing puts the pack in your library without applying it. Activate it in Settings → Global Resources or in the world's Resource Packs list. If other packs are active too, move this one to the top — packs higher in the list override those below them.

The file won't open or the import fails

Make sure Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is installed and has been launched at least once so iOS routes .mcpack files to it, then retry the import from Addon Hub. If it still fails, free up some storage and download the pack again — a partially downloaded file cannot be unpacked.

Some blocks or items look wrong

The pack probably targets a different Bedrock version, or only re-textures part of the game and falls back to default art elsewhere. Recheck the listing's compatibility notes, and deactivate other resource packs one at a time to spot a conflict.

Limitations & compatibility

• These steps apply to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on iOS. Java Edition texture packs use a different format and cannot be imported this way.
• Active pack order matters: when two packs re-texture the same block, the pack higher in the list wins.
• High-resolution packs use more memory and can lower performance on older iPhones and iPads — start with a standard-resolution pack if your device struggles.
• On multiplayer servers and Realms, the server can supply its own resource packs, which take priority over your local selection.
• Packs target specific Bedrock versions; after a major game update a pack may need an update from its author before everything renders correctly.
